Mix Up! is a practical application aimed to Anesthesiologists, Intensive Care Physicians, Pharmacologists, Nurses and health workers. Just think about a drug with two different concentrations (Major and Minor Concentration) and a predetermined Total Volume (Total Vol.). This application is able to calculate the Major Concentration Volume (Major. Conc. Vol.) to obtain the Target Concentration (Target Conc.). The remainder volume to complete the Total Volume will be the Minor Concentration Volume! To use the Application just click on Conc Vol Mayor and enter the data.
Example: If you need to prepare a solution of hypertonic saline 7.5% (7.5% NaCl, Target Concentration) in 100 ml (Total Volume) from a mixture between NaCl 20% (Major Concentration) and NaCl 0.9% (Minor Concentration), the volume of NaCl 20% required is 35 ml. Therefore, you must add 65 ml of 0.9% NaCl to obtain a concentration of 7.5% in a Total Volume of 100 ml.
Solutions can also be obtained from a single concentration associated with a solvent. In this case, the Minor Concentration would be 0. Example: To prepare an infusion of Ropivacaine 0.1% in a Total Volume of 300 ml from 0.75% Ropivacaine, you must add 40 ml of Ropivacaine 0.75 % to 260 ml of solvent (i.e., SSN 0.9%).
